AEAS Testing

International applicants (Years 10 and above) intending to sit NCEA and for whom English is a second language, may be asked to sit an entrance test administered by AEAS. AEAS test results provide detail regarding the student’s English language proficiency and their general ability.

The AEAS Report will be considered alongside other information provided by the family when reviewing the student’s application.

AEAS testing is available around the world, and students can register online. Alternatively, your agent will be able to assist you with the registration process. Please include a copy of the student’s AEAS Report with enrolment application or as soon as possible after submitting your application. For further information about AEAS testing, please visit www.aeas.com.au/how-to-register or email [email protected].

Medical & Travel Insurance

International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand. We recommend Uni-care insurance, and are happy to organise a policy for you. The cost is currently NZ$597.07 per year. Visit Uni-Care for information on their New Zealand Student Policy.

A student may purchase their own insurance or have this arranged by their agent, ensuring that Bethlehem College receives a copy of the policy in English, before enrolment. If at the time of enrolment the student does not have an adequate current insurance policy, Bethlehem College reserves the right to arrange travel and medical insurance through Uni-Care. The cost of the insurance will be met by the student.

Eligibility for New Zealand health services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health. Find out more.

Accident Insurance

The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the  ACC website.
