The Bay of Plenty Senior Swimming and North Island Athletics Championships were held last week with some very promising results from our Bethlehem College athletes. In the pool we achieved fourteen top five placings with Paris McConnell, Lilliana Guy, Isabella Etherington, Ben Cosford, Mataio Evaroa, Emily Spear and Alex Cosford leading the way with multiple top placings across their many races. It was a very competitive meet with some excellent swimmers showing their prowess in the pool at all age levels.
The North Island Athletics were held at the Tauranga Domain on Saturday and Lani Fraser took out the Junior Girls Triple Jump with a leap of 9.98m and she also earned third place in the Long Jump. Marguerite Johansson won the Intermediate Girls Triple Jump with a jump of 11.88m and she also achieved second place in the Long Jump. Of note, Elliott Pugh competed in the Bay of Plenty Swimming Championships on Friday and then turned his skills onto the track on Saturday where he achieved fifteenth place in the 3000m on Saturday on the Athletics track. Summar Tanner also achieved fifteenth place in the same race.
