Sports Report 27 November 2018
The last few weeks have been jam packed full of many sporting events, from athletics to volleyball and back to athletics again. The weather has been a bit up and down during this time and we have had to utilise some postponements. This has not affected our play though!
Caleb Browne and Jack Jones made their division final and Elijah Miller and Jay Yuan were in the finals in their division in the BOP Junior Beach Volleyball.
Several students were involved in the Year 7-8 Spiker Nation Volleyball Tournament at ASB Arena at the end of last week. The boys came 6th and the girls came 7th. Our mixed team came 5th.
The Sports Bay of Plenty Annual Sports Awards was held in Tauranga this year and it was their 50th year of celebration. Well done to Samuel Tanner who came away with Secondary Schools Sportsman of the Year Award!
Our Year 7 & 8 School Athletics was held at school and we then had 11 students go onto Zones. Eli Marsters broke 3 school records in discus, shotput and the 100m. Well done!
The Year 7 & 8 Zones Athletics was held on Wednesday and as a school we took 1st Place! Special acknowledgement to two students Eli Marsters and Lani Fraser. Well done! Both Eli and Lani have broken school records! Eli broke 2 records, 300m (41.64) and discus (by 7m) and Lani broke 1 record, 100m (13.54). This is an outstanding result for Eli and Lani!
Best of luck to our 3 Junior Volleyball teams competing in the North Island Junior Volleyball tournament this week. Both of our Junior A Boys and Girls are seeded in the top division.
