February 19th Sports report

 

Bethlehem College has been amongst the top Ocean Water Swimmers in the country after last weekends Banana Boat National series at Mount Maunganui. The surf was so strong the course was reconfigured so swimmers could still take part safely. Emily Spears was 2nd in the 2.6km race in the 14 – 15 year age group with an impressive time of 23.47mins. Ben Cosford was second in the 14 – 15 yr age group over the 1.25km race with a great time of 16.16mins. Lilliana Guy was 13th in the 1.25km race with a time of 22.35mins which was excellent seeing it was one of her first ocean swimming events!

 

Isabella Etherington had a very successful weekend at the Junior Eastern Regional (ERCs) Surf lifesaving carnival earning the following results:

3rd Overall in Final of U14 Womens Board Relay

6th Overall in Final of U14 Womens Tube Rescue

8th Overall in Final of U14 Womens Surf Race

8th Overall in Final of U14 Womens Diamond

 

 

Bethlehem College held their annual Senior Athletics Days last week in the beautiful Bay of Plenty sunshine. Of note was the fantastic comradery amongst all the competitors. There were some outstanding record breaking results across both the field and track events. Marguerite Johansson was the stand out performer of the event who entered 5 events in the intermediate category and broke records in ALL of these events. Her new record in the High Jump is 1.53m, triple jump is 11.48m the 100m record is now 12.95s, 200m record is now 26.37s and Long Jump is 5.17m. Jasleen Gill continued on her winning way and broke the Senior Girls Javelin record with a new record of 27.89m. Molly Allen also continued on her winning way and broke the shot putt record in the senior girls category with a throw of 11.02. Jaimee Eades broke the intermediate 400m with a time of 1.01.16 and Lani Fraser also set a new record in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.60m. We wish all competitors success in the Bay of Plenty Athletics on March 6th at the Tauranga Domain.
