Sports Report 1 August 2019

The Bay of Plenty Junior Cross Country event was held in Rotorua the last week of Term 2 and Bethlehem College students performed extremely well.


Shima Fletcher (Yr 6) won and Taylin Chandler achieved second place in the age 11 Cross Country Boys race.  Jack Rogers, Phillip Lind Azevedo and Aaron Taylor also achieved top 20 places. Sylvia Thompson earned 3rd place in the age 8 Girls race which was also a tremendous achievement.


Phillip Lind Azevedo and other talented Bethlehem College Football players competed in a nationwide football tournament in Christchurch during the school holidays. Phillip won the MVP award for the tournament and is pictured here with his trophy and medal. A great achievement, well done Phillip!


The Western Bay of Plenty Gymnastics Competition were held late last term and our intermediate aged gymnasts did very well. Isabelle Ferguson – Genet was first in the novice trampoline, Hannah Renner and Jasmine Riley were 4th in the Rhythmic Novice and Miya Nelson was 9th in the same category.


Congratulations to Jaimee Eades and Emilie Logan for being named in the U18 New Zealand Girls Hockey Squad!  Well done!


Our winter Sports are getting to the business end of the season with Netball entering their semi finals week this Friday:

The Premier 1 team are 4th in Prem 1 division

The Junior A team are first in Prem 4


Hockey, Rugby, Football and Basketball have their pool rounds to complete and we will update everyone with their results as we near the end of their seasons.


We wish all the teams the best of luck for their games this Friday and Saturday.
