Student Leadership
Our College’s mission is to equip students for effective service and leadership. We view student leadership as a tool to guide students to fulfil the plan that God has for their lives and through their lives. We help them find their identity in Jesus Christ, learn what it means to make sacrifices and to love others. Servant leadership is first, and foremost, the fulfilling of the commandment to love Christ and to love one another. It is an opportunity to serve, following the example of Jesus.
John 13 v 12-15 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.
Luke 22:26 But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest and the leader as one who serves.
We are interested in engaging our student’s heads, hearts, hands and developing God-honouring habits. Our aim is to integrate into our curriculum meaningful community service and leadership opportunities that will enrich the students’ learning experience. Our student leadership programme teaches students to use their God-given talents, time, and skills for the benefit of others. We take them outside their comfort zone to build perseverance and character. There are formal leadership roles and numerous opportunities for non-badged to lead and serve through different community projects, house activities, committees, and peer support.
Each student leader has a teacher who mentors them and offers ongoing support and guidance. We run official leadership training throughout the year, covering topics such as defining personal values, goal setting, developing action plans, handling conflict, trust, organisational, time and self- management skills.
We further equip students to develop transferable leadership skills to influence their worlds in the future, as Christian citizens and leaders.
