CULTURAL

Supporting well-rounded, secure and confident young people requires a holistic approach to learning. We’re big supporters of The Performing Arts and celebration of our cultural heritage and diversity. We encourage our students to understand our local cultural sites, the stories of Te Arawa, waiata, to appreciate what Rotorua offers and to actively engage and become involved.

The Performing Arts give everyone a chance to participate and strengthens community bonds. Schoolwide Musical Productions are a bi-annual aspiration through which musical, dramatic and visual art talents are show-cased and used to bless others.

Culture at Bethlehem College Chapman includes: Powhiri to welcome each new student and their whanau, learning musical instruments (ukulele, recorder, percussion), school band, choir, our school musical productions, chess, our annual speech competition, visual arts, a Music Festival of Talents and Arts Blast. We engage annually with other Christian Schools from Whakatane, Taupo, Hamilton, Paeroa and Te Awamutu to present instrumental pieces, dance, choir, band, and other musical items. Arts Blast offers opportunities to learn and engage in other Visual Art skills and crafts from weaving, to calligraphy, construction, water colour painting, cartooning, illustrating, jigsaw puzzle creation, construction, card-making, decoupage, knitting, collage, murals etc.
