We are seeking a Teacher with a passion for reading and literacy, or a suitably qualified Librarian, to lead our College library and resource centre. This fixed term position is based at our Tauranga campus and also has responsibility for overseeing the small library at our BC Chapman, Rotorua campus. Please see the position description for further information. Applicants must be conversant with the NZ curriculum, NCEA and be committed to supporting the teaching staff to achieve excellent results and outcomes for students. 

 

This position is Monday-Friday, 7.30am – 4pm, 40 hours per week.  Depending on the candidate this role could sit under the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement, or the Area Schools Collective Agreement.  Remuneration will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

 

Requirements:

  • Professional Library qualification.
  • Experience in developing school library collection including eBooks.
  • Love of literature, including knowledge of children’s and Young Adult literature, especially New Zealand writers.  A Biblical worldview to inform book selection and age appropriate resourcing of the Library.
  • Confident information and digital literacy skills and their use in the library environment.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development to keep up-to-date with IT and library trends.
  • Experience with library management systems – Access-it would be preferable.
  • Skilled, organised administrator able to contribute effectively to all areas of library management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including addressing groups of students and staff.
  • Financial acumen, able to prepare and report on budgets.
  • Confident team player, able to collaborate with school leadership and teaching staff in development of the library environment and collection.
  • Friendly, caring disposition able to interact positively with students from Kindy age to 18 year olds.

A Fixed Term position has become available at our Bethlehem, Tauranga campus for a Communications & Events Co-ordinator to join our support staff team, supporting needs across both the Tauranga and BC Chapman Rotorua campus’ as follows:

 

  • Commitment to the Christian Character of the College – this is essential
  • 22 hours per week over Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
  • 40 weeks per year, term time only
  • Fixed Term position starting as soon as possible, finishing 17 December 2021 
  • Outgoing, professional self-starter with experience in a similar role would be preferred (see position description)
  • Excellent communication skills, whether verbal or written, with careful attention to detail and commitment to excellence in all areas
  • Competent understanding of communication channels and ability to maintain the school website, Facebook page and to explore and implement communication through other channels
  • Ability to build relationships and actively engage with school leaders and stakeholders in capturing and sharing the rhythm of the school with our student/parent/whanau community whether in the online environment or face-to-face events
  • Competent in event management promotion and organisation whether primarily student or parent focussed
  • Eye for design, use of brand and ability to communicate clear design brief for media and marketing purposes as required
  • NZ Full Drivers Licence and ability to pass Police vetting
