This is a fantastic opportunity to join our excellent counselling, pastoral care and support team at Bethlehem College. The successful applicant will be an NZAC/ NZACC registered counsellor, with experience working with children and youth from ages 5 -18 and their whanau/family. The successful applicant will be able to work with a range of modalities to support varying needs in our learning community. They will also build and maintain networks with external agencies, work as a member of a collaborative and established counselling team, work with teachers, groups of students, and work efficiently under pressure. Bethlehem College provides a beautiful work setting and is located in the wonderful, sunny Bay of Plenty.

The position of Counsellor is part-time (32 hours per week). These hours will be worked within the 40 weeks of the year the school is open for instruction.

Remuneration will be dependent upon qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

  • Casual and relief positions available (fixed term position may become available to suitable candidate later in Term 2).
  • Teacher aide to join our team of teacher aides working in Primary (2 casual positions) and Secondary Y7-13 (2 casual positions), in an inclusion focused school.
  • The successful person may work across a variety of situations, with particular attention to supporting students who have MOE High Needs ORS funding when the main teacher aide is away.
  • Candidate may be required to assist as reader or writer for special assessment conditions during assessments (Y7-13). 
  • The position will involve working within main classroom setting, with some small group withdrawal.
  • Training and support will be provided.

Other requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills with a friendly yet professional manner.
  • Full drivers licence.
  • Commitment to the Christian character of the College is essential.
